MAGNÍFICA COLECCIÓN DE SAGARRA Y OTROS CARRETES DE NUESTRO AMIGO AMERICANO, LOS DOS INFERIORES, Y EL PRIMERO DE LA DERECHA EN LA PARTE CENTRAL, SERÍAN DE LA MARCA Viper modelo Riomar

Thank You our friend!

1.Sagarra Competition or as I have labeled it Sagarra Tournament. As you can see this Sagarra is slightly different from the one already shown on your blog. I believe mine is an earlier model having the black handle and drag knobs, but I am not sure. I feel very fortunate to have this reel as parts of my collection. It is one of my most prized reels. I was able to get this reel from a friend in Spain over 3 years ago, along with a Model 47 and Model 68 both new with the box and papers. I don't know much about these Competition reels and would like to know more about them. I was told by the person I bought the reel from that they were made for the Tournament or Competition Champions of Spain and that only about 10 were made. I would like to know if any of that is true or close to being true. If this is not true can you tell me how many were made? I would also like to know the year the first Sagarra Competition reel was made and the last year this reel was made?

2)Sagarra Tarzan Senior.

2. Sagarra Tarzan Senior. I bought this reel over 4 years ago from the same person I bought the Sagarra Competition, Model 47, and Model 68 reels from. However at this time in 2003 he was living in the US and listed this Tarzan Senior and another one which had a cast steel or iron handle on Ebay. He was preparing to move back to Spain and was selling some of his fishing reels and rods prior to going back to Spain. This reel has the number "92-" marked on the bottom of the reel foot, which I assume is when it was made. After getting the reel, I cleaned and lubed it but it had a fair amount of bearing noise. At the time I couldn't replace the two pinion ball bearings since a specially made wrench is needed to remove the threaded rotor from the pinion gear. I am amazed at the quality of the gears to stand up to that kind of use and show barely any wear. About 1 1/2 years ago I finally decided to talk to a tool specialist about making me a special wrench so I could put new bearings in my Tarzan Senior. I had him make the special wrench and it worked perfectly. I was able to replace both pinion bearings and what a difference it made. The reel now works and cranks as smoothly as a new one. The Tarzan Senior came with the aluminum small capacity spool as is shown in the picture. I have since acquired a composite large capacity spool for it.

3.Sagarra Levante.

3. Sagarra Levante. The Levante is my most recent acquisition to my Sagarra collection. It is new and came with the box and a brochure which shows several of the Sagarra models. The reel has the numbers "92-93" on the bottom of the reel foot. I bought this reel less than 2 years ago from the same friend in Spain. It is very similar to my Tarzan Senior with two exceptions. It has a much larger capacity spool and the line pickup is different, which can be seen on the picture. The picture was taken by my friend in the tackle shop in Spain where he bought the reel. In the picture the anodized spool appears to be a cream color but it is actually light gold. Again I can not say enough about the high quality of these reels. These are all fantastic reels and I will cherish them for a very long time.

I have three other spin reels which I am uncertain of who the manufacturer is. The names of the three reels are: 1. Viper Lance Ligero; 2. Rio-Mar; and 3. La Dorada. I am almost certain they were made in either Spain or Portugal but that is about all I know about them. Are you familiar with these reels and who made them?
